The Village of Big Springs is currently accepting applications for the position of Animal Control Officer. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to help ensure the safety and well-being of animals in our community. This role is vital to maintaining public health and promoting responsible pet ownership.
🐾 Position Overview
The Animal Control Officer will be responsible for enforcing local and state animal control laws, responding to animal-related complaints, rescuing and capturing stray or injured animals, and educating the public on animal welfare practices.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
- Enforce animal control laws and ordinances
- Respond to public complaints involving stray animals, barking dogs, cruelty, and wildlife
- Capture and rescue animals in distress and transport them to appropriate facilities
- Investigate reports of animal abuse or neglect and prepare documentation for legal proceedings
- Educate the public on responsible pet ownership and spay/neuter programs
- Assist residents with lost pets, dangerous animals, and wildlife concerns
- Maintain accurate records of animal control activities
- Collaborate with law enforcement, veterinary services, and animal welfare organizations
💼 Employment Details
- Wage: Negotiated directly with the Village Board of Trustees
